Solid list and congrats to everyone on it. I'm not a fan of how much emphasis BusinessWeek puts on the funding amount. It really is the only data point they write about. Would like to see revenue or users... or something else.

Hacker News is an amazing way to market YC. Notice how it is a subdomain? He could have easily changed it to hackernews.com or something but why? It serves as a great way to get the word out about YC.

If you can avoid it then yes. If you need to save cash then go for it. Most of the founders I know live together because they need to save as much money as possible. Once they start making a little bit more money they get their own place. Y

Any company that has a ton of eyeballs can make a Groupon Clone profitable. It makes complete sense for Google to do this. #1 Google already has a ton of small business using their products (Google Places). They can easily create "deals". #

Not really sure I agree with you here. #1 They can look at all the Groupon numbers in their adwords account and figure out which ads work and place ads for only those keywords #2 They can place their ad above Groupons and still collect that

Also - Groupon spends a ton of cash on Adwords to acquire subscribers. Google can easily just "out bid" those with their own ads for free.
