Everyone is different and will have a different lifestyle/environment. It’s completely normal for someone to not have taken a test over the last 6 months.

Are you serious dude relax. It’s ridiculous for someone to say “we” like every vaccinated person acts exactly the same across the whole country, much less the world.

Leet code style questions for an SRE is so dumb. SRE is all about solving unexpected, unique problems. Opposite of leet code!

Ridiculous. Humans burning fossil fuel for 200 years is nothing compared to the mass extinctions that have occurred in the past, and yet the atmosphere is still here.

Curious, what makes you think productivity has increased at your job? Like how are you measuring that?

We are very fortunate to be paid as much as we are for sitting at home and working on a computer. Compared to 99% of other adults around the world, we are spoiled.

No need to convince anyone or write new laws. If remote work is more efficient then it will win in the market eventually.

I wonder if they feel like GraphQL was worth it, vs. normal API servers. Maybe they saved some dev time on the front end, but did that outweigh the dev time spent on building, optimizing, etc? Somehow I doubt it.

I suppose those sensational stories/papers get more attention so that’s the short answer? I’m with you though. My personal life has not been affected at all (yet) so I am fortunate. But it’s not worth the stress, I mean the top comment

One difference is that eating is such a normal and low effort activity for us that there is no point for the brain to remember it. But if you were surviving in the wild, I bet you’d have much better memory of meals since they would all be s

IMO a huge missing piece is references. That part isn’t a new idea, it’s been part of hiring forever. A good reference from a past manager would mean a lot more to me than a 60 min coding challenge from leet code.

Read up on some real science and geography. Earth has been much warmer in the past and there was still plenty of oxygen. warmer also means wetter (in general). Local climates may change quickly but there will still going to be plenty of wat

Agreed. Anyone can point out a problem, some can be "pro solution", and very few actually solve problems. Unfortunate reality of the world.

That’s a very cynical take. Morally indefensible? That’s an incredible hyperbole. People may quit sure but CEOs are responsible for getting value to share holders and many honestly do believe that in office or hybrid model works toward that

Do people join the open calls just for specific reasons? Or do they join all day? An open call is a half decent alternative during forced WFH but it’s not the same. Random hallway conversations are just that: random. An open call wouldn’t b

I encourage you to watch a video of a current Waymo ride in Phoenix. In one ride I watched, the very first turn it made out of a parking lot should have been a left turn, but it turned right instead and went through residential streets to g
