The common misconception of HN crowd: assumption that everyone are like them and actually want complete control. There is a nontrivial cost to having that control and not many actually want it. They want something that works and is useable.

For other the freedom is not thinking about creative solutions how to repair a car. They have all that time free to think about something they care about.

The whole "need to fight native with the web tech" thing is flawed. I am not sure where that idea came from, but it does no good for anyone.

Sad to say it, but HN got worse. On reddit you can at least still choose some different subreddit with different culture.

I am listening what justification you will bring for my browser downloading 3MB of crap to display 500 bytes of actual information which requires zero interactivity, and for sure does not need you hijacking the scrolling. The problem is tha

It is tempting to see masks as a solution, but I doubt they are. We had quite strict mask requirements (bordering absurd, like wear the mask in the woods, being alone), and they are again required in indoor public places. Our neighbours in

Yes, there are "mirror cubes" which have brushed-metal-like surface. They are not considered solved unless the brushing is aligned.

You are never native on multiple platforms. You are always alien on all of them. Unless you have separate code base for each.
