TIL that in certain browsers you can play a video in an <img> element ... and that disappoints me because I always thought <img> was supposed to be used for static images, while <video>, <svg> and <canvas> elem

I looked at the possibilities of porting parts of my 2D canvas library's code base over to Wasm (using either AssemblyScript or Rust) last winter. My thinking was that maybe some of the more intense calculation stuff - animating text a

Thank you for introducing me to the world of tulpas. As an adult, I've written a couple of novels. Reading a few of the reddit tulpa-related posts I got the feeling that some of the characters I generated had tulpa-like qualities - in

The main expectation you need to manage (in my opinion) is your own. Building the project, or product, is the fun part of the work. The other part of the work is promoting the work to your target audiences. Even for a code project on an MIT

The first time I came across the spotlight effect was in a Facebook game - I can't remember the game's name, but it was very much like Mystery Manor[1]. Kudos to the OP for coding up the feature in CSS. The effect is fairly easy t

Release 99.0.4844.84 has borked my JS canvas library. Currently working on a fix - it was my misunderstanding of the purpose of the CanvasAPI willReadFrequently flag that left the library open to a severe speed degradation. In my defence th

Concerning the inaccessibility of the <canvas> element, I've done a lot of work with my JS canvas library[1] to try and make canvas-based infographics, animations, etc more accessible[2]. I've also written up a lesson on how

I, too, had to look it up. This is about adding a (pseudo) perspective effect to the 2D canvas yes? There is an open issue in the whatwg/html repo[1] asking for this functionality - I have no idea whether the request will be taken forw

The CSS Painting API[1] shows some promise in this area - it adds a (restricted) canvas to elements which always maintains the same size as the div element it's attached to. [1] https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/
