I imagine a youtube where the ads would pause as soon as you don't look at them anymore. Like that one black mirror episode. But yes, first promote some gimmicky fun stuff to get the foot in the door and when it has arrived, show the r

Is the depiction of Elite on the BBC Microcomputer correct? Afair, the models were all see-through wireframes.

I'm using https://picocms.org/ . It is PHP based, works on a cheap limited web hoster. The concept is: Upload a markdown file plus associated media, and it does the rest for you. For customisation, you can use Twig and

If I may add :) In the '80s, Elite was magic. The annotated source code shows how it was done - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=29254763 - Nov 2021 (6 comments)

Recently I wondered what the name of the site formerly known as gamasutra is. Maybe it's just my bubble, but it feels just dead since the renaming :( A pity.

Yes, same for me. On my work laptop I use Firefox, and tried it for a few weeks without adblocker, then I gave up. I'd love to keep Vivaldi, and when there are problems with adblocking, I will give it a patient try to see how bad it ac

Nice to see Zerobrane is still around. I moved a bit away (for now) from the Lua world, but working with Zerobrane was a blast at that time.

About time someone tries to do this. I have been thinking of that for a while now. And if they claim 60Hz refresh rate, all my concerns are gone, basically. For a laptop, I'd like to see how light-weight they can get it, if the battery
