I really don't like the "fact checks" being done by news sites these days - that's your responsibility as a reader, tech can't do it for you. Even more reputable sites like Snopes tend to draw absolutist conclusions

Why does ZFS "really need" ECC? I have a few friends running freenas on just old machines without ECC, no issues so far a few years in.

However you define productivity, I still work the same number of hours in a given day, so whether it's more output or better output, it's still all the same to me. There's no reason for me to invest the extra hours in sleep t

> If you are X% less productive you will be able to charge X% less for your work, on average, so you would need to work longer hours for the same pay. That's making the huge assumption that you're willing to constantly seek you

Most of these studies tend to be focused on temporary effects, including this one. Most of that "damage" can be undone with a good nights sleep. But even if some amount is permanent, so what? Does my brain need to be in mint condi

But do I need to be more productive? It's a tradeoff - I can go home and spend more social time, leisure time and put more personal time into my projects if I sleep less. The 2-3 hours of extra time I get by sleeping like crap allows m

"username <username@yahoo.com>" is perfectly valid in SMTP last I checked. If it's a user experience thing, fine, but at least make it an optional field.

Sure, but you don't need first name, last name, phone number, birth date or gender. All of which are asked on the signup and of which only Gender is specified as optional: https://login.yahoo.com/account/create On

The author touches on app size and performance - both of which are fairly valid I believe, but they don't go into why JavaFX over other desktop UI frameworks.

Most are loaded from SRAM or similar, but it could be fairly simple to make it load from your main RAM and then there wouldn't be any issue there.

I was extremely skeptical of all the changes they were doing - I said it myself 100 times, "they're just building a Chrome clone, they're killing all the features I like in favor of speed". But here I am, running Nightly

Look at how entrenched the big video players are. If anything this is creating more competition. And better - if a service that started by using this got large enough, they could spin out on their own with no ties to the original platform.

Mobile apps have the advantage of not being restricted to access on a single IP. So using their keys is often as simple as digging it out of the appropriate binary. Android and iOS make it quite simple to grab the relevant APK or IPA packag

And even if they do just steal an API key from a mobile app or two. The bigger risk is that they'll come after you for using their trademark, but there's some PR risk to that too...

So is that key produced and provided by OWS? Or is it an Intel signed key? Either way, it's far from trustless, but it does provide a benefit in that if the initial setup was done correctly a compromise of OWS servers can no longer res
