This doesn't seem impossible. There are some PoCs to be found in old technology. The shock loads are surmountable. We made an atomic bomb that worked after enduring at least 10KG acceleration. [1] The aero loads (mechanical and thermal

They pretty much are fungible with natural diamonds. High quality synthetics can't be told by eye from equivalent quality naturals. If they're < 1ct., it doesn't pay to have them analyzed. "Real" diamonds have al

These aren't issued patents, they're published applications for patents. When you read these applications, look first at the claims. If you believe any of those shouldn't be granted by the PTO in an issued patent, read the ap

Thanks for your post, I was not aware of the controversy around Hari. That said, I found his book "Chasing the Scream: the first and last days of the war on drugs" [1] an informative resource that in some places touches on this th

No expert here, but.... I think the impulse to suicide can arise in people of sound mind who are (or who feel) trapped by their circumstances and see no way out. Job loss in late middle age combined with financial load (mortgage, kids in co

Yes. It's the level of PA search you would do if you expected your patent to come up against a mega-entity like Google, Apple, Facebook, De Beers, etc. If your patent applications are mainly to check the IP box for investors, it would

Mostly agree. Except for prior art search costs. Expect a good prior art search to cost more like $10K. It depends a little on the field (cold fusion prior art search would be lots less), but if you're in chip design, energy storage, d

I think efforts to distinguish between theft and "wage theft" are an unhelpful distraction. Theft and "wage theft" are both violations of law. The article shows that economic harm due to the latter far exceeds the former

I don't think it matters whether few or many cops or agents are bad. The source of harm is the forfeiture law. With such laws in place, even a single bad actor can do enormous damage. We need to repeal the civil forfeiture laws.

I agree. You wouldn't net all that much, as diamonds give really poor RoI (unless you're in the >~ 3 ct range). And divorces are expensive. Plus, if you have a daughter and she can use your wife's wedding ring in her cerem

Not really. Synthetic diamonds can be readily detected by at least two instruments sold by De Beers.[1] They look at emissive and absorptive optical features that aren't due to impurities, but due to defects (vacancies, stacking faults
