I am concerned with this statement appearing to make a misleading minimization of the cost on the US side, as if it was a simple matter of turning around to a different seller.

I stopped reading here: > $155B worth of electronics, which we already have domestic manufacturing capabilities for [4] The citation here is to the effect that the manufacturing technology is already present in the US. This does not at a

The privacy policy of not storing passwords is nice but what about when they get hacked and the site starts uploading passwords to some attacker's website?

Sundar only became ascendant afterwards. When + was around, Vic Gundotra was in charge of that. Nexus 7 was released back when Andy Rubin was still firmly in charge of all things Android. I'd associate Sundar's ascendancy more wit

Altruistically, it trains users that it is ok, which it isn't. Selfishly, the author really does not want to be storing or even handling these kinds of credentials. It makes them a very juicy target for all kinds of bad actors. Imagine

I heard the band called "Arc Attack" do this about 10 years ago in Austin, TX. The video is ok but listening to it in person, up close, is something else entirely. The sound-generating surface is physically huge, so the sound fill

Kudos for commenting here. I'm just an anonymous internet person but I'll share some advice anyway. There are concrete things you can do to improve. 1) When someone reports a security issue to you, always always always thank them,

Feelings of inadequacy aren't worth being had. If it's useful, remember that this sample here is extremely biased. I've seen a somewhat more random sample of my friends, all talented, skillful and diligent, roll the dice of g

Yes. The fact that this is considered newsy enough to make it to the front page tells us more about the fever pitch China paranoia in these parts than about the actual news itself.

It's part of the curriculum. The most important thing for them though is to focus on mushrooms in their region not having encyclopedic knowledge... Still, some will refuse to provide this service if they don't feel confident.

In France, you can bring your wild mushrooms to any local pharmacy, and they will ID them for you as a free service. Seems like it would be a useful service to US foragers too!

I agree it's the right call, my remark is only about the communication style (e.g. "frankly, I don't care") and how it comes off to an outsider to the community.

One can sense the frustration dripping from the thread. This feels like pretty aggressive communication ("frankly, I don't care", etc.)... it could've been a misunderstanding about what "removal from testing" m

I believe a newsroom located in the US can just as well be compelled by a court of law to hand over information on systems that it controls. Regardless of where the data is stored physically or whether it's self-hosted.
