It's important for the condo to build up a substantial amount of cash in case there is a necessary high capital outlay needed. Sit on a condo board for a while and look at all of the expenses, and then also imagine saving up enough bec

This does not match my personal experience. I live in a 10,000 person neighborhood that is covered by an HOA, and it is a very diverse place. In fact, one of the things that I like about living here is that there are people from all over th

I like our HOA. They do a good job maintaining all of the common property, including the pool, the shuttle system, and the copious grassy areas and parks that are part of our neighborhood. There are rules here that are related to maintenanc

From what I have seen, if you can be well paid, and put a significant portion of your salary into index funds, over the years, you will generate a modest nest egg, and have choices in your late middle age or retirement. This is a different

It's been a pretty rough year for DC residents to be fair. Between BLM protests, the gangs that drove to the city literally to fight with them, then a literal insurrection, I think it's possible that for this group, it's up t

For my part, I enjoy fast food burgers (think Wendy's, Burger King, etc...). These burger patties are not exactly rare Kobe beef. Once you put that thing on a bun, add cheese, slather it in sauce, etc... I don't find the differenc

I remember about 20 years ago, I was working at Microsoft, and Visual Source Safe won the best code Source Code Repository from Visual Source Safe Magazine. Quite the surprising outcome.

My wife teaches basic computer skills to older people (think 65+). I hear her teaching sometimes, and I find it remarkable what "basic" actually means to these people. She takes a lot of pride when her students are able to reply t

The assertion that humans are unable to stop themselves from completely depleting the resources that they depend on rings true to me. I think Jared Diamond wrote a whole book about this.

I answer this question a lot. For me, a summary version of my model is as follows: EM is a technical role in the sense it includes managing technical projects. However, it is not an engineering role. I hold Engineering Managers accountable

I manage managers and managers of managers, so have years of seeing this play out over dozens of teams. At this point, I prefer my engineering teams to "locally optimize" their process. I tell them that I care about the following

It's also Linux based on a properly supported distro that is maintained specifically for the rpi. You can do real hacking, not "try to get this to run" hacking.
