What a boss.
This is what often happens when you have community management report into marketing instead of engineering. A good MVP program is about having a tight feedback loop with engineering, and the ROI is about identifying and fixing customer issues.
There is room for community programs that roll up to marketing when they are explicitly at the outset about spreading the word about something that the community members love. But turning MVPs into shills was doomed.
