My vote goes toward Node.js. My reasoning for this is because of the versatility of JavaScript across the stack (both front-end and back-end) - you only need to learn one language! As per database, call me old-fashioned, but I'm still with

I agree that the URL is extremely lengthy and the overall user experience is similar to sites that try to sell you a gimmick. I think if you layered this on top of Facebook you might have a better shot at the virality aspect of things.
