Just plugged in Flappy Bird (open source version called Floppy Bird by nebez) on the leaderboard system I’m developing for HTML games. Any feedback you have for Ping3 would be great. Thanks.

It is no secret. Just that most folks in the bay area don’t want live with the dreary weather there. I know several folks from here who couldn’t last one full year.

That is correct. They should have just gone the route of taxing more for that revenue.

I politely disagree. The law is clear that it can go on with user consent as long as there is provision for deletion and download. Which means it is going to be business as usual (with a lot of inconvenience to comply).

So what exactly is the overall outcome that people (in the support camp) are expecting from GDPR? Obviously targeted content and advertising is not going to stop. But maybe the 0.01% of the population that wants to opt-out of targeting or d

Sure. But let’s not pretend that it is cheap to do. All I’m saying that if you are cheering govt stepping into the equation then let’s have an honest discussion on who it hurts and who it benefits. Let’s take a stock of the impact to garage

Last night I fired up my laptop to go shut down my side project. But I came up with a band-aid solution that might hold up for now: https://medium.com/@riantogo/gdpr-band-aid-b619d0b17e5b I don’t need email addresses a

This is exactly it. Tens of my personal projects have died in this stage. It was always much easier to move on to the next dream. There is always the next big problem that could use a solution. Why not build when it is what we do best? Rins

Also it is easy to plug in any game. So if anyone here wants to put up a leaderboard style game let me know. Or link to any open source ones.

This is my side project with the goal of creating a leaderboard system for super casual mobile games (think tic tac toe, not Fortnite). I started this before Facebook opened up their instant games and Google expanded instant play. I still h

It’s meant to be a light hearted read (I think). And it is resonating with a lot of folks because it is fairly accurate. Kind of like how my wife (not in tech) thinks of HBO’s Silicon Valley as a comedy show while I think of it as a documen

How many are few? Because messaging apps work that way (chat groups) and most groups with over ~10 people is a tsunami of terrible jokes and fake news. What works though is creating temporary groups around events (trips, concerts etc.)

Towards what end? GDPR is not going to (or meant to) eliminate targeted online advertising. Which means it is not going to thwart Cambridge Analytica and the likes. We need to address the root of the problem, which is money/advertising

Maybe the next version of GDPR will tighten the screws and take it all the way to the end user. You install some app and share your contacts with it? Pony up 10% of your annual income. You forgot your phone in a cab? That is putting everyon

GDPR is coming. In my opinion it has flaws and I'm personally not a fan (big corps will have resources to comply and small ones will find it to be a barrier to entry), but if you want regulations this is as strict as it gets. https:&#
