Almost every exchange supports TOTP, as well as Coinbase, shouldn't they just disable SMS? Although it sounds like these are email accounts that have been hacked in other ways too.

A rejected proposal does not mean research does not happen. It means they were unable to get funding from DARPA. It does not necessarily mean they were unable to get funding from "somebody". And yes we do have reason to believe th

Your example doesn't exactly compare that well. If Subway was one of 6 places you can get a sandwich (or any food at all) I think most people would not want Subway to ban them. That would be crazy.

We moved EVERYTHING to Teams and ADO (for git, backlog, pipelines) except our actual product is still on AWS. If we didn't have a couple things like encryption, S3 and some fargate usage, we'd probably start fresh on Azure.

Most of my early life I lived in luxurious ~5 - 25 AQI. I live in pretty much the same area (California) and seems like during the summer we are going to suffer through varying levels between 80 and 500 AQI. It's a good time to get int

Next epic lawsuit: Apple must have a justified reason for banning a game / account that is outlined in their TOS. And the exact specific reason must be given in writing so it can be clearly addressed. I mean think about it. It's n

That's the other issue, it feels like the EU committees are composed of grouchy HN readers that want to "fix the world". It feels very much, "if I were king I would do this".

No, this technique works with plain old insurance companies too. It's just that no one does it because they mistakenly give the hospital their insurance info - because, guess why? They ASK. Also, healthcare sharing ministries are not s

What's hilarious about that - is this: Instead of giving a hospital your insurance info, say "you don't know if you have it, the last one expired" - even if you have insurance they couldn't prove you did "know

It isn't about averages of a single person. If we're talking about 500 people (for example), if 220 win big on Crypto, that's 220 people with "f*ck you" money. Even if the other 280 lose money and the average is &qu

It seems pretty weird to go to work everyday with bombs set all over the factory you work in. What if it blows up by accident or a disgruntled worker pulls the bomb lever.

Absolutely agree. If I ever had to go back to a "docking station" which I'm sure many on here have used in the past I'd be ripping out my hair. A single multi-port dongle with Hdmi, extension USB-C and USB-A makes it so

Our entire company was on Gitlab.com for 4 years without paying a single dime to them. Unfortunately we moved off (decisions above my head) but I loved how simple everything worked. Their CI is top-notch.

I tried, I really did. I make a pretty great salary, but the company I was working at started to tank (this is pre-pandemic). So I reached out to my network but everything was pretty dried up at the time, so I looked at one of those sites t

If no one is a tech company, what IS a tech company? We have the habit of getting into pedantic esoteric arguments that are meaningless. I can't accept that Netflix is a "Television company" because they don't sell TVs.

To be 100% completely honest, home building needs to be one of our basic skills taught in school. That along with chopping down the building codes for small homes to be extremely simple. I'm not saying we support shanty homes everywher
