I didn't say you can't market specs. Sounds like someone does understand you. I also didn't intend to imply that you should not build a better mousetrap. The point is that building a better mousetrap is insufficient.

So important. Spend 2 or 3 days a week focused on this. It's easy to court some Lean methodology, find something you're pretty sure people want, and then go into 'build' mode. Don't ever go into 'build' mode. Customers come from marketing a

I think the what here might be less important than why for pricing. It's easy to get a sense of your platform from your website, but who is your target customer and why are they paying you? Does this save them time? Money? Make them money?

How exactly is the $263 billion dollar market cap company that pays dividends and has $2 earnings per share with millions of customers dying? Slowed growth at that scale is an artifact of size relative to market potential. It doesn't mean t

Greg Glassman (CrossFit founder) likes to say, "Shoot for a low trajectory over the horizon or gravity will fix it for you." It's true of starting anything. You're more likely to get where you want to go in small, incremental steps.

For my book (see profile) I developed the idea because my posts about cold calling for entrepreneurs became so popular. After that, I just started collecting emails, asking the list members qualitative questions, and honing copy by testing.

Does anyone think that 'Starbucks' or 'Pay me $1' are great signals for Craftsmanship? I know plenty of office environments with free coffee. There is your alternative, but it isn't relevant. People buy experiences. You go to Starbucks beca

You can learn a lot of nuts and bolts stuff from guys like Rob Walling and Patrick McKenzie. It can take time for things to sink in, but nothing pushes it faster than creating your own product and trying to sell it. If you have a commute, I

This book is on my shelf. It's a thoughtful and practical approach to language and writing. The prose in the book is often winking at you as it reveals a principle.

My experience with sales people is that they pick up on social cues much better than average. The good ones just don't take rejection poorly. It's part of success and often you can learn to prepare or target better from the experience.
