Built my first PC (for basement LAN parties) using the old family Packard Bell case. Cut my thumb on the poorly machined aluminum inside...I'll cherish that scar forever. Ah, the good ol' days.

I had a similar opinion until I started to see a flood of outages, data leaks, money being pulled, etc starting to crop up right as co's started hailing AI as the second coming. Now? I'm waiting for the inevitable reality check. A

This just reminded me of a friend who explicitly requested to be placed inside of a glass cube and then blown up, his body becoming an instant art project/memorial.

I'm here for it in the short-term. As the market continues to saturate, most of the people building this stuff will flame out. Eventually, I suspect we hit a tipping point where the ROI is too low (not enough real human engagement, jus

Makes sense. IMO it was always a wank operating as a smoke screen while access was given to private parties that couldn't get it through legal/traditional means. This story increases the probability quite a bit.

You can't. To retain and improve quality requires care. Very few if any of the people setting stuff like this up truly care about delivering a quality result ( any result is the real goal). Unless there's some incentive to care,
