Interesting- I'm not sure there's been any streamer more secretive than Netflix about its numbers though.

This is fantastic!! Excited to see more data from the other providers, and perhaps building useful things around the data :-D

Valve is certainly better than others, but they do prevent publishers from selling their game for less outside of Steam (if they sell that game on Steam), and I think that is anti-consumer.

Not that, it's about how you navigate through screens in the same app and in multiple apps. Since the back gesture and back stack is universal and all apps are presenting activities added to the back stack, you can seamlessly move betw

Well, as a consumer, instead of having to switch your entire phone if you don't like the way apps are billed, you'll now be able to switch apps if you don't like how that specific app handles billing. Some things like Netflix

But they did play games, check the other subthreads. They were willing to bend over backwards for Netflix including giving them a lower cut.

Apple has explored deals with large app makers like Netflix as well ( https://www.theverge.com/2021/5/5/22421734/apple-epic-netfli... ). They even offered 15% to Netflix ( https://www.theverge.co

I stand corrected but your "False!" is in bad form. Here's the docs, search for Epic Games Store in this FAQ. They waive the 5% royalties when sold on Epic Game Store. https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/f

Actually my Samsung Bespoke fridge is just that. The REST API docs are even in the printed manual! To be fair it doesn't actually do much. (We got the one without the in-door tablet so we could use the glass front as a whiteboard!)

I have zero doubt there's some kind of VB6 monstrosity living in some car's infotainment system. Complete with a copy of Windows CE to boot.

I have to assume they meant 79% of US consumers who use iPhone, since only about 60% of the US uses iPhone, and Carplay specifically is useless to the remaining 40%. Or perhaps they were grouping in AA under the covers.

On the flip side, the custom weird UI the car manufacturers contracted some cheap outside firm to write at low cost, and is filled with paid product placement and data mining, will be flawed from the start and never fixed.

It is definitely true that the display and input latency on the headend screen is in control of the car manufacturer, so not all Carplay/AA implementations are equal. I've seen it on rental cars-- some are great and some are crap.

Oh they've already solved for that years ago! It'll just automatically send a Play signal via Bluetooth when your phone connects to it! And for good measure, there will be no way to control this at all. Enjoy having random content

The activity stack experience in Android is probably my favorite part of the system design. It produces a deep consistency that makes navigation effortless. I really wish this had been built in to iOS in the same way. The activity stack wor
