Exactly. I'm not sure where that quote comes from, but these days in terms of TS vs JS it's 100% "not using untyped JavaScript for any serious product".

The types should be shipped with the code which is nearly ubiquitous for NPM packages these days (at least the ones you should actually be using). If they were, you would catch the issue as soon as you built the app, which should be happeni

Yes it very likely would have. Most libraries have their types shipped alongside the JS, and if that's where the change was, it would have been caught during build. I'd argue that even if the types for the changed package were fr

Agreed, when they popped out this "such and such isn't a function" I lost the thread. You would know about that before you even started if you just read some logs. Unless they don't have logs, in which case a choice of

Well if you can answer both X and Y, then in the case they really wanted X the answer is helpful, and in the case that they overlooked Y, the answer is still helpful. I'd say that's wrong less than either X or either Y

It might predate HN but you are looking at the XY problem, not the YX problem. In this case, they are not commutative.

I agree, for offline attacks there is no impact. Very interesting article. What is up with $\$$cur there btw? In PHP that would be a gnarly indirection-- even if it's something in FB's codebase, why keep it on the slide like that?

You might find this hard to believe, but people buy products based on a number of factors. For smart phones, the number of factors is dizzyingly complex, and yes, the effects it has on smoothness of communication with the people in your lif

And yet if your statement were true, it would not explain why others who also own "both" disagree with you. Absolutism does not serve you, there are few subjects in this world that lack nuance.

Entropy here is referring to how random the user's password is, and thus how difficult it will be to guess it. For example, a four character password which can be comprised only of lowercase a-z has much lower entropy than a four chara

Android does not have ads in the OS itself. And apps on iOS can have ads just like apps from Google Play can have. It's either pay with your eyeballs or your wallet, this isn't different between the two platforms.

The application developer has to agree to the terms of the CUDA toolkit. If ZLUDA or other mechanisms require the developer to opt in, that could cause a problem. Perhaps someone more familiar can let us know if that's how it works?
