Nice comment. I wouldn't have read the whole article otherwise, but I went back and read it and it's a great read. Thanks.

This is the kind of seemingly non-hacker RIP post I love seeing. I didn't know much about him before seeing this post, but the comments made me read more about him and I'm glad I did. Great stuff.

I don't think so. If a company controls their domain, they control the links. If the company goes out of business, the domain can be transferred and the 301 service takes over processing the links. That's my take on it, anyway.

It's a nice thought, but having a 1/50,000 chance of a user seeing my app when they load the App Store is the same as zero to me. You might make a few bucks here and there, but I doubt it will have any significant impact on your sales. Even

All I can think of now when I hear someone reference the Segwey is Woz playing Segwey polo on one. If that doesn't say dorky, I don't know what does.

I wouldn't be surprised if beer sales increase in a recession as people stay home and drink more beer yet at a lesser overall cost than if they went out and drank half as much in a restaurant or bar.

That's a pretty bold statement. Care to be more specific? "Might" doesn't cut it when you're publicly questioning somebody's credibility.

Right, because I'm sure they stopped using joins (as well as all the other RDBMS benefits) completely after they made those changes ;-)

Makes me proud to be Canadian. Don't fuck with our beer, our hockey sticks, and our guitars, eh? (But please just generally don't fuck with us at all, because we don't have much of an army up here.)

It might be, but my point was more than you have no control over it, especially after it's already on the front page. Sometimes the front page is really interesting and sometimes it's a lot of shit. The problem is that everyone's definition

If people didn't find it interesting, it wouldn't be on the front page. It's not like it's not newsworthy. And it will be there today and gone tomorrow. I thought we were beyond complaining about what makes it to the top page.

It's a normal threat in business, but when customers are paying for products or services, the old companies still have some movement. If Dell is charging $1,000 for a computer and another company comes along with a way better computer for t

Does it not make a bit more sense to indicate why you're conducting the poll? I don't mind polls, but usually they're only interesting if the poster sets it up and comments on his/her own choice and the reason for the poll in the first plac
