In my opinion, Modern Perl is anything that uses Moose or frameworks like CGI::Application or Catalyst AND has a clean OO/MVC structure. Meaning no more ugly things like bless() and ref() What this means, is Perl becomes a proper MVC style

Wow, I've been working on my own MMORPG (though I use Perl for all Admin stuff and SOME player stuff such as message retrieval.) I certainly haven't achieved the level of completeness this guy has. (or is it a team?) I'd imagine that it's

I really don't communicate with the Perl community at all. I write code, I send bug reports or bug fixes if things are broken. I really don't see how interacting with the Perl community would be relevant to an employer from an engineering

I don't know, nor care, who chromatic is. I was simply implying that there are developers like me who can write more code than speak or write English. It's pretty silly to filter candidates based on how they spell something, unless it's b

Python is one language I wish I would have learned, but I didn't want to waste my time with it. It's not good or enticing enough. I wish I'd get paid for writing Erlang code already!

Well, good luck finding good developers whos primary language isn't English. Or developers who treat writing non-code sentences as a waste of time.

I couldn't care less what other developers thought of me. As long as my code works and works well and others can work with it. I'm happy. However, I do appreciate and will take your advice into consideration. I do only talk to my immedia

I spend much less time speaking or writing about PERL than I do writing PERL code. Note, I'm well aware that PERL is not an acronym. I ALWAYS spell it like that because I like to make it pop in my sentences. Frankly, if an employer is tur

I don't spell PERL, PERL because it's an acronym. I spell it as such because it's that awesome it needs to stand out.

Well, as a 24 year old PERL developer in Los Angeles I'm glad this is the case. Many people underestimate the capabilities of the PERL MVC frameworks such as CGI::Application + Moose and the other ones. I can bang out a proper MVC templated

I'd like to remind people too to use DenyHosts: http://denyhosts.sourceforge.net/ It's awesome, gets rid of a bunch of brute forcing ips that you see in your secure.log.

0MQ is not a protocol as far as I know, it is an application. It's unfair to compare it to AMQP. STOMP is not flexible enough, but it is pretty good.

I understand and partially agree that AMQP is a bit complicated. Much like XML is a complicated version of JSON. However, I can personally vouch that this 'complexity' once somewhat mastered can be used to create messaging schemes in no t

I think the problem is that people like junk in their house. I don't. My 'fuck you' money is $800 every two weeks. I pay $600 a month. I don't buy much, I spend a lot of time with my girlfriend. We go to the beach, park, etc. I spend my

Well, I deny access to the old clients. I consider this an advantage because I force users to keep up to date. If you're careful you can just add items to the end of the stream and the old clients will work just fine. I don't support t

I use rabbitmq for my android app. It's just a matter of sending a byte array between the client and the server. Then it's just a matter of reading the bytes into the appropriate fields. (both server and client) This may be a bit of work

Absolutely, I'm working on an MMO, and the complexity/flexibility of the AMQP protocol has been a god send. However, I do agree that its concepts are somewhat convoluted for a new user, it took me quite a bit of digging to get the basics of

I'm sorry if the writers of thousands of years ago don't meet your expectations. Also, I'm not sure how you can call a paragraph(s) a story. Considering they're in the same chapter of the same book. (Actual chapters were added later, the ch

Google is your friend. Of course, you should read it. But that's a double edged sword, because to truly 'read' it you'd have to learn Hebrew. Also, the order doesn't matter, as the first section is 'foreshadowing' or a 'condensed explanat

Doesn't really matter what evangelicals say. This has been widely discussed in many Hebrew speaking universities by very able individuals. Not sure what good it does to try to interpret the English version.

That's stupid, ask any orthodox jewish scholar, or hell, read the passages yourself. The first section is 'foreshadowing' for lack of a better term, and the second is the accounts in detail.
