This is seriously old school advice from someone who clearly hasn't done research or used modern solders. There are quite a few very good lead free alloys that are basically as good as any leaded alloy. I use Kester K100LD and it is ab

This will always be the case, unless rural subsidies are increased even more drastically (not really a good thing). Infrastructure in cities is far cheaper than rural areas, so this is kind of a cat and mouse game for rural areas where inte

If you ever go camping far out in the wilderness you will realise how hard it is to get away from human noise at night. The sound of planes flying overhead is almost constant over the entire continental US, even in desolate and wild areas.

This is exactly how zooniverse works. The first thing you do is go through a few known pieces of data to verify you know how to identify things correctly (more important for galaxy types, etc). As you start labeling data everything has to r

I absolutely agree. I got a broken 650 from my sister, fixed it with a cheap easily available part, and it has worked beautifully for the last three years. It is also a joy to maintain and was obviously designed by people who care about mai

The article states that the A/C compressor runs off of the high voltage battery, not the 12V. I'm curious what is running off of the 12v to cause such wear, but considering the miles traveled having to replace it 3 times isn'

This article is one of those that only looks at the very surface of an issue and immediately jumps to conclusions. My take from this is that the author hates governments and wants to blame issues on governments regulating. The bit about pho

It sounds like the problem here is that cars just aren't feasible in semi-dense urban areas. Based on your comments you seem to feel that cars are pretty much the only solution to transportation. I think this is a pretty poor way of th

So, there is a lot of bad, anecdotal information out there about which is worse, AC or DC. The reality is that it _depends on the situation_. In the case of shock and electrocution DC is _less dangerous_ than low frequency AC (sub ~1kHz). T
