I’m not the GP but in the UK “trumping” is what we call it (amongst other things, lots of fun words for body sounds).

This has broadly been my experience of secular meditation also, I haven’t explored any other schools. What did help me though was a book called “Constructive Living” by David K Reynolds. It talks a lot about what you mention. The importance

How long did the application take if you don’t mind me asking? (Foreign birth register + passport application) I looked into it a few years ago but they had such a massive backlog to deal with I was told 24 months, so I put it off.

I would be very surprised at that! I have no time currently but I can put together a example for you to illustrate what I mean if you’d like.

I forget where I’ve heard this so sorry in advance for the unsourced claim, but I think white noise is much better for humans to place in space. Higher frequency beeps can bounce around much more than a broad spectrum white noise blast. Ane

I think there’s some benefits to guided meditation in general. Different techniques (body scanning, breath counting, etc) aren’t necessarily obvious to people looking to meditate. People also come to meditation for different reasons. Some w

If pictures of people you don’t want to see get selected, you can block them from being selected. Select the person and it’s something like “Include this person less” that you’re after. It’s not perfect, but it’ll allow you to keep the phot

Ofcom (the UK’s coms regulator) has just announced a review of net neutrality [1]. Which will have some big companies aiming to give themselves more “flexibility”. Currently however, providers are bound by EU mandates to treat every packet

Tangent, but I’ve never really understood what the issue is with unicode support in various languages. Does anyone have any idea why it’s such a contentious issue?

Sure, things have been bolted on top of Java to allow this to happen. People have made use of them. Java now has built in support for these things, so no longer will developers rely on third-party solutions. This is great for the Java world

I wonder whether it would be better to just go with the nuclear option and kill the C extension model as it currently stands. It would take probably decades for libraries to catch up, and maybe kill the language, but if it survived, Python

Even if everyone went fully digital, and letters became a thing of the past, you would still need a functional postal service. Packages obviously will still be sent for one, but also from a national security perspective it makes no sense to

I moved to Reaper after Logic X was released. I know it’s a dead meme to decry the X version of an Apple software product (looking at you Final Cut), but in their desire to reduce complexity in the UI, they made what were previously common

Pointing out what you see as bad regulation, doesn’t imply that all regulation is inherently bad, or that less regulation is inherently good. I won’t argue about the merits of each of the above cases you’ve cited (Berlin rents & GDPR),
