Most of your points are about the Linux-distributions issues. If Haiku was built on top of the Linux kernel, Gnome/Qt wouldn't matter but Wayland and the Limewire stack would probably be reused though.

And it's so much easier to write several hundreds of drivers for the Haiku kernel instead of one 'desktop user' scheduler for Linux.. /S

Emacs/Vim are fast, SpaceMacs/SpaceVim are slow. And buggy for spaceVim I would add.

And yet given that git is the current "default" VCS, it's very important that this is/will be "as smooth as possible".. I wonder if it wouldn't be possible to memorize "git order" of patches when

That's easy to create election rules which doesn't induce a "two party" system, but how do you convince the current winners of the current system to change the election rules?

I nearly down voted you.. But here you go: a language is a tool, you can make it as simple as Lisp or you can add complexity but the complexity must be there for a reason. Making languages users remember whether + has higher precedence than

The dismantling cost has been factored in but given that they don't manage to reliably estimate construction costs I don't see why the estimate of the dismantling cost would be more accurate..

But I don't see the link between a 'different kind of VCS' like Unison is and a language..

Except that Unison created its own language which makes pretty sure that they are doomed to fail.. I don't know if there is a technical reason for the new language or if it's NIH syndrome.

Unfortunately in big companies, pointing in the right direction isn't good enough: then you have to fight inertia, inter-team, inter-site disputes to finally do the right things :-(

Not really, it's a social reason not a technical reason: those who are 'hardcore enough' to build a 'BeOS shell' like to 'own' their kernel too.. From an 'time to release' POV it'll take muc
