This famously happened at GitLab: https://about.gitlab.com/blog/2017/02/01/gitlab-dot-com-data... > Regular backups seem to also only be taken once per 24 hours, though team-member-1 has not yet been

The network is decentralized, but each domain still has a single registrar, making the service you (domain owner) receive very centralized. If that one registrar misbehaves or is unresponsive, you're out of luck.

You're right of course, it's not entirely compatible, but this might be interesting: > We use vanilla Postgres as-is for the query layer and replace Postgres storage with YugabyteDB’s own distributed storage engine. https:

setName() vs name= are just syntax. None of those have anything to do with how state changes. If you have control over the compiler (which they do) there's no reason it can't do the right thing (case in point, svelte).

They actually distribute 240V in USAmerica, one neutral wire and two opposite-phase 120V wires. Outlets in homes are 120V but wiring 240V is not difficult. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split-phase_electric_power This

Or search. What a useless devops platform if you can't find issue by searching for words that appear in comments. Only words appearing in the issue title/description are found and this is infuriating every day. Can't believe

Agree on the first part, but for the second... I think it depends on what your threat model is. If you want to stop a dedicated attacker ready to spend time to attack your site, it won't work, but nothing will. If you want to stop a ge

This happens a lot and it's really weird. Google had a Gemini stand at Supercomputing, the best thing they could figure out to demo their vision abilities was to have you male lego robots and have the AI judge them. Like, why is that f

What is the story for multi-language corpus? Do I have to do my own stop word pruning, tokenizing, lemming, etc? This is usually the case with full-text search solutions and it is a pain.

The change to X and the change to Y are the two entries. In practice most systems allow for more than two entries in a single transaction (ex: take from bank account, give to salary, give to taxes) but always at least two, and always adding

A double-entry system is one where you can't change the balance of an account, you can only record transfers between accounts. This means it's impossible to forget to update the other side of a transaction, it's a single step
