This is a common criticism. However, almost all ML methods have some built in heuristic choices, that are the result of finding something that both works and is mathematically nice. Each of these choices restricts us to some family of funct

One wonders why the incentives aren't aligned. I.e. the value of the recruiter to the employer is finding a higher paying job, so the compensation should reflect that. E.g. 10% + 50% of the pay increase.

The annoying thing about sous vide is that you need to be home at least 1-2h before dinner. If you're a lot at home, it's great though.

If you're willing to pay more for faster retrieval I guess you could store e.g. 5TB of random data to get a fast "base speed"- cutting those 3 days down to 12 hours.

Yes, I think (automatic) car makers will have to be extremely careful. If we have dramatic accidents to soon, it may be hard to sway the public opinion with statistics (as is the current case with nuclear power).

You chose to make your point with probability, which is actually what will most likely make people accept driverless cars in the end. It's amusing to read the same reasoning after striking away "driverless": "You are far

At 48:55 ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_Sr96TFQQE#t=2933 ) Snowden says you cannot control who uses the backdoors. I assume he is referring to malicious bugs and simple/sloppy backdoors? For example, if I append

I really don't get debates like this. You should simply account for the (a) time it takes to write the program AND (b) the time it takes to run the program. Selecting a language only based on (b) is clearly suboptimal.

First, the majority of Iceland does NOT want to join the EU - and the Mackerel dispute is not helping, since Iceland's main fear of the EU is due to the fishing policies. To pick up the Europe, Iceland would have to lower their nationa

You'd have to define trust to understand and then answer the question. Trust is the inverse of what most people think it is. Trust isn't about what someone won't do, it's about what they will do. You might trust a guy wi
