I feel like you are super trapped in a very small way of thinking. Say I run an IoT system across a variety of embedded systems. I could dynamically load small behaviors & scripts to all targets with this. User scripts could target all

You can pave a narrow path but that's not what folks wanted either. We need both freedom & framework. We had a lot more to explore & become, that the narrow path would not have brought us. Just a personal bais but I think the

It'd be lovely to see better patterns emerge to aggregate and/or anonymize data. Great respect for the response. Reevaluating data retention is a great move.

At least this snide snobbery is vaguely cheeky. Rather than being an homage to prowess of "real programmers," it's just trite well tread moaning against easy targets, catastophizing as usual how bad things are. Yes, they cert

I think it's a bit simplistic to assume native, already compiled code is the only payload worth considering. The portability of wasm will be pretty excellent, and over time there may be a great cross-language ecosystem surrounding wasm

Fairly topical *to the world at large. Whether humanity is consigned to only be a user of the world about us, or whether have agency & can build... That is a major issue everyone is facing, especially tech-interested folk such as HN rea

I really like this! It makes me a little sad about the greater state of software development. Each app cobbles together so much, is so it's own distinct entity. It'd be so nice to have a more common framework to work within. I rea

A lot falls on earth & is absorbed too, is my understanding. There's plenty of talk about farmers flooding fields & what not to restore groundwater. 100% I think the main benefit of this project would be to restore some ecology

The idea of flooding some desert at first seemed gobsmackingly useless to me. The article talks about a 6mm drop in ocean levels. The article does say it could potentially increase total water evaporation by up to 6% though, and that could
