How many from that 89 operating systems are either Linux-based (ChromeOS, Android) or real Unices (FreeBSD, OpenBSD, mac)? Edit: And there are at least 4 Windows flavours in the list!

Given the political climate, they could easily ban Russian books from their platform and live happily in Moscow. Surely I'd prefer that over US custody.

I guess in 2022 "don't ever travel to countries that have extradition agreements with US" should've already been #0 opsec rule, above everything else. Sad for them. Does anyone know if Z-library provided torrent dumps?

Last time I tried to use Grafana for profiling, it didn't support microsecond resolution for graph time axis. This was a showstopper, and I just hacked a Python script to draw what I needed - not a great solution, but it worked. Did th

Once upon a time I was writing a few portable shell scripts for Solaris and Linux distros. Limiting the scripts to a common subset of commands was fighting windmills - so often you stuck with something easily solved by one GNU option, but r

Linux on desktop still sucks massively with even basic things. No per-display scaling in GNOME in 2022 is ridiculous. Power management on laptops is significantly worse.

We once had an idea about integrating libtorrent for distributing binaries. Turned out libtorrent website was banned by corporate firewall due to "piracy". Decided the idea was not worth it to fight with infosec guys.

Perhaps a minor nitpick for most of the people, but for me a big problem with X11 was that hotkeys fire on key-down, not on key-up. Because of this, you cannot really use Ctrl+Shift to change input languages - it interferes with another hot

This is an extremely bad advice. In fact, you should do exactly the opposite - on AT, shut down the engine without touching the selector (there is a chance that AT won't disengage), and on MT, shut down the engine and switch to the low
