One reason I like Elixir's Phoenix is that it's reasonably easy to leave out the heavy-weight batteries I might not want, specifically the DB library and and JS build pipeline. I also like that router is pretty simple, but can han

I think you're partly correct. Hops cover a multitude of sins. But another reason I think brewers use hops so extensively is that they're the ingredient that will get you the closest to something approximating terroir. New Zealand

I think an interesting counterpoint here is that people are doing different things with hops now than they were a decade ago. Most of the really hoppy stuff I've had lately has been heavily dry hopped with little bittering hops during

One thing to keep in mind is that the rights that the publishers are exercising here are the same rights initially possessed by the writer, before they transfer them to the publisher. So it's about the publishers, yes, but before that

One thing I had always heard about Mnesia is that it was prone to split brain with the occurrence of network partitions. Is that still a concern?

In certain states, money used to purchase a gift card is required to be held in escrow, which would be held separately in receivership. Definitely worth asking about.

Sure, you don't want to leave money on the table, but an 18% pop is pretty standard even for normal book building. Seems weird to call Google's Dutch auction a debacle when it had the same result as standard book building.

I don’t quite follow. Legal and accounting fees are a fraction of the bank fees, but they’re what’s actually tied to the regulatory scheme.

I guess my point was: that’s the baseline. It’s an order of magnitude faster the 20ms your saying is unlikely. That leaves a lot of headroom for hitting the db and things done. The api I’m working on isn’t currently being hit super hard, bu

A sizable first day pop can be good for a number of reasons, not the least of which is publicity. 40% is obviously excessive, but there are reasons to leave a little money on the table.
