Americans take pride in having them, but being properly trained in safely handling or effectively using them is optional. Try and force it and you’ll get the tyranny talk. Sadly I’ve heard many stories of cable/dish techs dealing with

Yeah, there really isn't any other way to get to the real feelings about the matter publicly unless you do what Steve did.. and unfortunately I believe Steve is correct that there is nothing Linus can say or do that will quickly fix th

I have a Dell H310. The SMBus signal stops my board from posting. http://yannickdekoeijer.blogspot.com/2012/04/modding-dell-pe... I think it’s just a quirk of the Dell LSI HBAs.

A coincidence indeed. It has been a solid platform all these years. Now the question is do you also have it housed in a green Corsair Vengeance C70? I presume since you're running an LSI HBA on the same board you also had to tape over

I'm running Proxmox (Debain underneath really) which has a meltdown-spectre checker package available, I followed a debian guide I believe for implementing the microcode and the results are mostly in the green now. I haven't looke

I setup an i7 3770k system in 2012; ran it as my primary machine all the way until a couple years ago when I moved to a 5800x. This is Ivy Bridge, not Sandy, but frankly apart from Intel cheeping out on the TIM by using paste instead of sol

I used this as a slacker (Slackware user) for a year or so. I really enjoyed the aesthetic overall, and while I've been using Fedora KDE for a while now I have debated moving back to XFCE and would certainly reinstall this theme if I d

The vintage IBM keyboards are romanticized quite a lot. They feel great to type on. They suck for gaming. They're very loud (that being your issue with the normal market is weird since you want one of these things..) I'm not willi

I’ll always hold a special place in my heart for this distro. I used it as a very solid file server for a long time.

I'm not a Minecraft player so I probably can't speak to this but sometimes all I want in an existing product is infrequent updates.. little quality of life improvements, patches that keep the game running properly on modern OS

Sporadic thoughts: I'm not impressed with Sony's tantrums over this, they've been throwing money around for exclusivity for years, ranging from exclusive content in major titles (Destiny and CoD have often been 'definiti

Depending on the year and trim it could have been one of those escorts with the Mazda ‘b’ engine from the Miata, which unlike the Ford motor in my ‘91 Escort that blew a head gasket at just over 100k miles was a good reliable motor.

I can't even begin to describe how upsetting it is that anybody would deny us the right to a dignified end citing their own beliefs and ignoring our own.

I feel for you. My dad was on the less side of that, having died just shy of three months from onset of symptoms. The tumor was located in a region called the thalamus, they said in all likelihood they would never be able to resection it wi

Move from one EOL OS to another. You do you, you’ll be fine until you aren’t.. I feel bad for anyone you convince that this is okay.

I’m using an old Haswell i5 hp envy to run pfsense. Wifi is done by a dedicated ubiquity access point. I can’t see why I should need to upgrade anything hardware related for some time.
