I would say, rather than being a DSL, the Mathematica language was informed by a particular goal. Much as Prolog, R, RPG, Perl, job control shells, etc., were born of a need to 'scratch an itch' and have found themselves pushed beyond that

"public class Foo extends Bar" is a lot of English text, and I have to read it all to separate out the tokens. "@interface Foo : Bar" makes it easier for me to see at a glance what's going on. I know it's a "throwaway" example in a

Quartz2d is effectively "Display PDF". Bitmap icons are necessary (at least in the icon portfolio) as they can degrade more gracefully at lower pixel counts. NeXTStep/OpenStep used bitmap icons.

The first revision of the XT (.5TB) was a dog and barely worth the effort. The new version is significantly improved.

One phenomenon I've seen a lot is racism/sexism/prejudice of some other sort given free rein because there is no self criticism in that area. Because only stupid people are sexist and racist. We are smart, ergo, we cannot be sexist or raci

It has to be presentable. Typography matters.

If that were the case, there would be no market for CMS. Everyone who wanted one would hack one up in Excel. Or maybe Word with macros.
