Generally, out-of-the-box Linux driver support is more complete that Windows. Printers, network cards, and other devices that require driver downloads to run on Windows just work on Linux.

I'm not really criticizing Unity here, just saying I prefer GNOME.

GNOME is a lot more than a GUI. When I installed Arch Linux it was a pain configuring X startup, graphical login, wifi management, etc. As soon as I installed GNOME, all of that was working for me. Plus I like the latest GNOME desktop bette

> Just accept the increased costs and enjoy your clean air. That's easy to say, but shouldn't we use existing costs as a base metric for measuring how much increased costs we can bear? Otherwise we would have to accept energy c

I was thinking if the WoT every becomes as easy/popular as social networks, it will be inherently untrustworthy. Has the author forgotten about how common impersonation is on Facebook? And how many people access social networks from pu

Thinkpads have better build quality than most PC laptops, though I'm not sure whether on par with the unibody design in MacBooks. My own experience is that my T410 overheats when doing serious work like encoding video. The case is stur

While I wouldn't defend the wording of the original post, I don't believe it's too far from the truth. What do you mean by the _real_ interest rate? While Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke claims the Fed is simply "managing the

Crackpot conspiracy theory? The Fed doesn't think so [1]. As that FAQ explains, the FOMC judges that maintaining a 2% inflation rate is optimal for price stability and maximal employment. The federal government operates at a deficit [2

I doubt wireless power will catch up to the efficiency of battery power any time soon. Batteries have been around a long time and have the ability to time-offset local renewable energy resources such as solar power.

At this point there is no talk of modification, but if Blender became a large part of Valve's modification ecosystem there would surely be some back-and-forth source modification going on.

I wouldn't say in this case that the problem lies with Blender's choice of the GPL, but rather with Autodesk's FBX license. The FBX license is much more restrictive and onerous than the GPL. Whether GPL is freer than BSD-styl

Do you think those stories would disappear if newspapers were no longer printed? There are plenty of online news sites. The syndicates can keep selling their stories without printed newspapers.
