Yeah, I think it’s worth emphasizing: we are in Month 4 and there’s already been an enormous amount of chaos. We haven’t even seen the effects of the agencies getting cut. Sure they’re running for now, but burnout can set in quick for the r

Considering the current administration’s lack of respect for rule of law, I personally would not place much value on relying on these limits. Especially given other administrations’ attempts to stretch surveillance authority, which happene

I want to like RetailMeNot but every time I try it, I very seldom come across functioning coupon codes. I don't understand what incentivizes people to submit bogus codes.

But a lot of scams don’t require this. The international transaction side isn’t with the victim, it’s with a completely different person happily sending cash over. Say you run a gift card scam. Victim buys $100 in gift cards and provides yo

The article reads like a lot of finance articles from western outlets about China. It continues the multi-decade angle that — regardless of China’s successes — somehow they’re set for a full and total societal collapse any minute now. So o

There are a few ways to keep cycling through supplies if you’re already using food/water that can last some time. For water, could get a water cooler. Keep a few 5 gal jugs around, and just use it for some drinking water. By periodical

I don’t think that would do much. The states that went for Harris have a fairly higher degree of passport ownership than states that went to Trump. As someone who grew up in an area leaning hard conservative, the trope of “American who does

I don't understand the angle of remarks like this. Russia invaded Ukraine, Germany pulled back money going to Russia, and Germany is now investing where it's appropriate. Are we expecting them to re-litigate this problem until the

This seems like a fun way to monetize the platform, especially if they aren’t running ads. I’d imagine it’s easier convincing people to buy fun swag than to persuade people to sign up for a subscription tier or throw money into a donation j

I’ve removed every app I can over this because. Highly recommend. For the remaining apps that I can’t avoid like Uber, I turn notifications off. There’s a 5 minute window where I’ll have to switch between the Uber app and whatever I’m doing

Strictly looking at GDP is a terrible way to compare economic conditions between US states and countries. GDP of Mississippi looks great only because of a strong dollar. It doesn’t really account for living conditions.

There was, bluntly, a mountain of bullshit from many angles. When trying to keep tabs on stuff for my sanity, I determined there’s multiple variants of the lab leak theory: First, there’s the question of if it was an accident or a deliberat

Yeah, “business impact” is measured entirely on a short-term basis. In 3-4 years when you need to make a drastic change, that’s when the actual business impact comes into play, but this is never measured. In my experience with some groups,

That’s a workaround, that’s not a solution. That is a solution for 2005 when the iPod wasn’t an internet connected device. In 2025 when devices are connected, performing network backups is overwhelmingly the correct answer.

I’m not sure I can recommend Qubes entirely due to the usability aspect. I’ve used Qubes several times for a week at a time over the last few years. It’s gotten better, but they really need someone to look at the user experience of it all f

I’ve been doing all of my dev work in a virtual machine as a way to clamp things down. I’ve even started using a browser in a VM as a primary browser. Computers are fast enough where the overhead doesn’t feel like it’s there for what I do.

Word of mouth worked fine in Firefox’s favor for a few years. I switched to Chrome years ago because it ran so much smoother than Firefox, and anecdotally I know of many others who did the same. With the switch, so did the recommendations.
