Yeah looks like they missed the forest for the trees. I see this kind of thing in our industry quite often; some Rube Goldberg machine being invented and kept on life support for years because of some reason like this, where someone clearly

+1 on this I wanted to try it out but was put off by this[0]. It’s just straight up curl | bash as root from raw.githubusercontent.com. If this is the install process for a server (and not just for the CLI) I don’t want to think about secur

I’ve been using this https://github.com/khairul169/garage-webui as a UI for Garage. It’s been solid. After years of using Garage for S3 for the homelab I’d never pick anything else. Absolutely rock solid, no problem wh

Big news for both the lazy homelab admin that can set a TXT once and ultimately be more secure without spraying DNS Zone Edit tokens all over their infra AND for the poor enterprise folks that have to open a ticket and wait 3 weeks for a DN

Everything is FAST now, I 'member 10-15 years ago if someone came to you for help you actually had the time to pull up a (possibly virtual) chair and spend 3h helping them. If you do that now you'll get canned in 4 months. Obvious

It's a big problem especially if you haven't met the people you're working with. It's easy so think one dimensionally about a person, I catch myself doing it all the time and I can't say I'm wise enough to alwa

I've never seen it put this way but I think you've hit the nail on the head. Text requires correctness to some extent; bullshitters will just yap away for hours and nobody can point to one piece of text and say "Here, this is

About LLMs not being very good at Nix, I disagree. I went from not having written a single line of Nix to a full fledged repo with multiple mac’s, multiple NixOS hosts with impermanence, the whole lot in a couple months with remarkable spee

I turned my supermicro 847 X10DRI+ into a JBOD by ripping out the mobo, the fans, and building a 140mm fan wall (zip ties and later 3D printed). I can highly recommend the move, it's dead silent and I have drive temps between 33 and 45
