Considering that Google are amazingly good at giving you your data back, and allowing you to transition off to other services, his comment is about the most stupid and self-defeating thing he could possibly say.

Honest question - what is it with these Apple fanatics not wanting to write any software ever for Android, Windows, Linux or anything not Apple? Is it just spite?

I need an RSS reader that works and syncs across my Linux laptop, Windows 8 desktop, Android phone and Windows XP work computer (and I can't install any software on the work computer).

You left out one important point: 6. Convenience. I believe that the content industry is relying on a sufficient number of people still finding it easier to buy a DVD/Bluray rather than pirate. For technical people, pirating is already som

Typing this on an x230 - it's the best keyboard I've ever used, bar none. The one and only complaint I have is the low resolution, but 768 is not that bad on a 12.5" screen.

1. They don't sell info, they just target ads 2. Google are an AI company, who currently make most of their profit from ads. They are well aware that there are big opportunities for them to make profits outside targeted ads.

Why are people still posting and upvoting these articles? DHH has made it clear that he doesn't want his articles on Hackernews, which he described as a "cesspool".

You're a friendly one. Edit: Parent comment was a snarky elitist "doesn't everyone know that?" comment, and I'm getting downvotes (on -2 right now). There really is a lot elitist bullshit on this site.

I have become proficient in about 10-15 languages over the years, but Python is sufficiently different from all of them that 2 weeks is not enough to give Django a fair trial. I'm sure Rails is the same. Knowing 80x86 assembler, Commodore
