I also recommend The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas. It’s only about a 15 minute read but quite powerful https://learning.hccs.edu/faculty/emily.klotz/engl1302-6/rea...

I didn’t expect new heroes very often but just the dev team seems to be like 2 people these days

I honestly have no idea which “side” you mean. Seems to me that both mainstream political sides are mainly about victimhood now. The whole point of Trumpism is “actually I ’m the victim”

It’s at a similar patch cadence and size as Warcraft 3. The fall from the good times has been pretty severe

Sure but mobas are much closer to action RPGs than RTS games in the actual game experience. The origin story as a mod for a RTS is interesting but doesn’t lock in the genre

I just don’t understand what they’re doing. I played every Blizzard game since Warcraft 1 but after them killing HotS and me growing bored of Hearthstone and WoW years/decade ago there hasn’t been anything for me to buy from them in ye

There does seem to be some more bandwidth combining “art” and “science”. Trying to listen to any talking while programming is almost impossible but if I’m drawing or sculpting or anything like that then it’s more complementary

I also had the same thing at my previous stressful always putting out fires job. Now I’m at a more laid back (and more productive) place and the brain/memory fatigue has gone away

I like the analog of the sliding puzzle because also if you remove one more piece it will be even easier to solve. Also if you remove too many pieces then you’re not actually getting meaningful work done.

iPhone and Android killed the handheld market. The switch works because it’s a portable console rather than a handheld

How is it better than existing water purification tabs or a filter like lifestraw?

Coin base didn’t have a ridiculous scandal that they implemented this against. If you read up on Basecamp this is all in response to their hilariously hamfisted response to the leak of an internal “funny names list” of their customers.

Smoked tofu is good- I wish there were more smoked veggie meats and cheeses. Definitely not something I’d want on a pizza in lieu of mozzarella though

I’m also all in on the fake veggie meats but have not had a good cheese experience even in vegan restaurants. It’s always some strange bean sludge/mat. Would love to be proven wrong!

If you keep cutting it off and have control over its whole potential growing area it will eventually die. It has some scary properties like roots that travel 20 feet easily and spring up a new independent plant and a insane growth rate once

Yes because of the supremacy clause. That’s not really new? Many states have acted on it but the federal laws still fuck things up for individuals and businesses

    by redisman 6y ago

It’s part of the problem but both parties have had total control in the last 5 years and yet nothing has been passed on the federal level. The problem is that all the representatives are in the over 75 yo group

Rogan is fine (if dumb) light entertainment to have in the background. I haven’t listened to a single episode since the move now that it’s not on YouTube anymore. Spotify is also totally awful for podcasts as the UX is for a music player.

There’s gotta be some limit to how many cities can maintain insane rents. High salaries spread across 10 cities instead of 1 should be a much saner equilibrium unless the tech workforce and salaries multiples in number too

Isn’t this just the age old myth that all our jobs will be outsourced to cheaper countries? Except managing a completely different culture 12 hours away is basically impossible/very hard at the same quality. A company is the workers. W

See but that’s not that great for the employee. Making them do accounting and “breaking” tax law on pretending to be independent contractors. https://gosmallbiz.com/the-independent-contractor-checklist/
