Me too! Although I am playing with Sublime merge lately - it is pretty handy for creating branches off of specific commits, looking at diffs across branches etc.

It has less to do with your camera injecting viruses. There are other attack surfaces. For instance someone could send you a malicious Jpeg and if your Adobe application has a vulnerability and you decide to open that file, it could be expl

I think about this a lot and many times I feel it is impractical to expect your company to visibly demonstrate moral ground that you can be proud of as an employee. I work at Netflix and I am happy here. Curious if any of you would consider

Amazon is also slowly moving to this "private tech document" as a side effect of using Quip instead of putting them in the company wiki searchable for all. I hate this.

GCP did close their IOT service recently leaving very less time for customers to migrate to some other solution.

I discovered a gem yesterday in HBO. The Outsider. Ben Mendelson and a small role from Jason Bateman. Feels like a true detective season well done like the first. How is this show not front and center in the homepage?

For me, I have come to terms with that fact that an fully moral employer is unrealistic in this competitive world. So I stopped feeling proud or disappointed by what my employer does in the world (as long as it does not actively goes out of

I really admire Stuart Marks and his work, talks and writing. His work in Java APIs are much more approachable for laypersons like me who will be quick to pounce on various suggestions, problems and feature requests. But I find his response

I am proud of my team at AWS that took backwards compatibility very seriously. Even introducing a temporary backwards incompatibility was a no-go in design reviews. We had a service that had a list API that was paginated. It returned a next

No, they launched the service, took their promotions and then left to launch newer products for more promotions. No one was left to improve the existing product.

There are global quotas per account that can sneak up on you if you have too many services running in the same account albeit in different regions. DynamoDB total read and write capacity comes to mind.

In fact per app per region that the AWS service exists in. My AWS service exists in 24 regions so that is 24 “prod” accounts, 8 “gamma” and 6 “beta” and 1 “alpha” account. Some newer teams go even further. If the app is made out of differe

I have a question to people who were around and have a memory of the times because I don’t as I was not born yet. But does the crypto thing feel similar to how the internet started in the late 80’s and early 90’s before finally taking off?

How is the iPhone X working for you? Mine is struggling now. Gets very hot after a video call. Cell network completely drops randomly and will only recover if I take out the SIM and put it back. I was hoping for a couple of more years.

Is this really true? That most teams depend on a separate team for th CI/CD stuff? I have only worked at AWS and all teams here completely own their deployments and operations. I thought this was how everyone does it.
