I don't agree. I have the same problem described on the article; I can't read websites with white text over a pitch black background. My eyes hurt after a while. At the same time, I use a dark theme on my IDE, but it feels like it

I have an old EOS 550D (I think it's called Rebel T2 in the US?) and I can use the webcam software for free. I downloaded a copy back in 2020 when Covid hit and Canon decided to release it. Maybe that would be the key to reverse engine

In some ways, car-centric cities are like that because people don't care. "I'll just take my car, whatever". They don't care about traffic, pollution, accidents, etc.

Yeah, I don't understand what's going on. I was curious, but that mess of a webpage made me close it right away.

Cold emails -- especially AI generated ones -- go directly to the trash in my mailbox.

Yes. One of those three lines is based on the old copper phone lines; the other two are optical fiber (FTTH). I currently have a 1 Gbps down / 300 Mbps up unlimited connection, and I pay only 16 euros (~16 USD) per month. I wonder why

Also free. That helps. But the sad state of the affairs is that if Aaron Swartz does it, he ends up dead; if Meta does it, everything is fine.

Oh wow, don't look at Italy so! At my current address I have coverage from at least 7 different providers (even though they're all based on only 3 different infrastructures/lines).

I think the website is censored at DNS level but they chose the wrong error page. In Italy it just errors out with a NS_ERROR_CONNECTION_REFUSED.

My desktop has dual boot Windows and Linux, but I've never bothered playing games on Linux. Maybe I'll try to dual boot Linux and SteamOS, just to have a "safe" and working Steam environment.

There's exactly that example on the official OSM wiki page [1]. It's very useful to read their wiki while adding things to the map! OSM and all related projects thrive on users' contributions -- be the change you want to see

Exactly, it doesn't even help the owners themselves, because people will keep asking the same things over and over again. It's not like a forum where you can easily search by topic.

Also, why would anyone want to use Discord as a forum? It's horrible, not easily searchable, and you need a proprietary app. Nothing good about it.

100% agree. Passwords + OTPs are the best solution, IMO. No big tech can control this, and it's easy to keep a grasp on all the credentials we have. WebAuthn? No, thanks.

It's impressive, but it's completely broken on Macs with a normal mouse connected and Firefox, because scrollbars appear everywhere and they break the layout.

Old Italian Macs used a classical QZERTY keyboard, like typewriters, but no other computer keyboard uses that layout. Normal computer keyboards use QWERTY (plus some accented letters). Luckily, Apple switched to that layout for Italian keyb

I've been using GIMP for 20 years now, but the UI is atrocious; you can tell it's been designed by engineers who know nothing about UX. Even the most basic UI elements, such as the slider bars, are horrible and unusable.

I agree with you -- I don't like receiving cold emails on my work email address, and I treat such emails as spam. But I don't think it can be configured as spam from a law standpoint; but this is just my opinion, IANAL.

>sent, often in bulk, to a consumer That's the key. The FTC defines spam as something sent to a consumer; in this case, the receiver is not a consumer but a business.

Facebook still has an ancient and hidden interface called "mbasic". It was meant for old phones with a basic browser. It's very old and now it's half broken, but you can still access it from https://mbasic.fac

lol that's a place where a modal filter would be perfect; they could make a "hole" in the curb to only let bikes go straight through. Instead, they decided to put 5 metres of white paint in a random way. Great!

Yes, both Rome and Naples are in the "South" of Italy, and the situation is worse there than in the North. Milan, Ferrara, Bolzano, Modena, Bologna are just some Northern cities where cycling is encouraged and I can see them tryin

Italy has exactly the same problem. Not only we have a horrible infrastructure (the quality of our asphalt is abysmal), but cycle paths are pretty much always shared with pedestrians, and they're filled with obstacles (manholes, poles,
