Full-text search from MySQL or other similar database. When that gets overloaded, then consider something like Elastic Search. That is my rule.

AWS might as well apply any Windows Update changes so that they deliver a fully-patched and secure instance, instead of an insecure image from a few months ago. It isn't just AWS, all Windows cloud servers seem to be delivered unpatche

Can somebody explain how Der Spiegal does this legally? If they can do it, maybe others can use the same justification.

Thanks for the reply. You and the others have really lost me about the differences and compatibility of Java, JRE, OpenJDK, sdkman, conda??? Maybe I'm in the middle. I pay enough attention to not want to deal with Java, but I don'

Maybe I don't know JRE vs Java well, but I really dislike the constant "update Java now!" messages and the hassle that goes with it.

Needs Java. I saw it mentioned in the HeidiSQL thread and thought I would try it. Never completed the installation. Not putting Java on my machine, nope. Yes, I do understand the advantages of Java. Runs everywhere, which is nice. I'm

A heartfelt discussion about terraforming Mars. This is HN at its most entertaining. I'm serious. Thank you!

See all those downvotes you are getting? Thoughts like this are not welcome here on on HN. I agree with you, but I stay silent most of the time to avoid getting downvoted.

You overestimate my abilities! You also overestimate the abilities of non-technical people. Judge's discretion on the fine, and he probably won't like me.

Sounds like a legal headache for anybody who wants to set up a personal blog or blog for their company, with a penalty of up to 20 million euros if you get it wrong.

I would love for you to be right. A search for "gdpr are ip addresses personal data" only shows me articles that confirm what I said, including a ECJ ruling.
