I've been pretty ecstatic with the combination of TypeORM and TypeGraphQL if anyone is looking for an alternative.

I think the nuance of what I was implying got lost there. It seems likely there is no inherent purpose to human life and that we're simply an accidental byproduct of the natural laws of our reality. Yet the closest identifiable thing w

> I would say that death+reproduction is a better solution to preserving genes than immortality. It's just the solution nature came up with. It's also optimal at a population level and far less so at the organism level. Again:

The only reason we exist is because our genes "wish" to remain immortal. Not dying is the fullest realization of our biological (and likely only empirically valid) purpose. Science also suggests that consciousness ceases with deat

Would also like to know the team size. Sounds like 3 people with a good amount of experience. But it's a very impressive accomplishment no matter how you look at it.

Agreed. The final total number of deaths projected back in April [1] is about half of current deaths. It stands to reason that the problem is significantly worse than what our top epidemiologists expected and should be addressed accordi

Seems possible Apple will announce plans to take a cut of ad revenue once they're the middleman tracking all conversions. I can't imagine they're happy that so much of the money being made off of their users is out of their r

Wow it's almost like Apple designed their rules so that most of the key businesses in this world don't pay an insane 30% of their revenue to Apple. Almost like Apple say...doesn't want to discourage important institutions fro

This is a really ambiguous, unusual, and (in my opinion) inappropriate use of the term "customer acquisition". The App Store is a marketplace that connects people developing for a platform (iOS) to customers using devices compatib

Apple's cost to maintain this ecosystem can't be anything close to the insane $50B in App Store revenue they hauled in last year.

When you really stop and unpack this, you can see that this is a non-issue. Adding an object or a field to the schema (the most common operations in a growing schema) never interfere with dependents and can be performed independently of cli

I find it odd that so many people are relying on the "well they do it too argument", as if Apple has a monopoly on monopolistic business practices. If you want an example of a horrible middleman in publishing that's slowly be

The other half of that coin is HN choosing to restore posts that have been flagged unnecessarily. That doesn't seem to be happening. It may not be a conspiracy but it's definitely still a problem.

Yup seems like that just happened and they're still charging the $30. That means $108 lost to Apple in the first subscription-year and $54 every subscription-year thereafter. I'd be surprised if Superhuman isn't trying to fin

The realization that this permits end-to-end fullstack type safety and allows some awesome things (like surfacing breakage at compile time in response to changes to the data model) is a quietly brewing revolution.
