This is a good example of a bad attitude. This person was someone who had the skills to plow through the frustrations and could have made a contribution by writing that missing tutorial, but instead chose to gripe.

Yeah, I learned Vim before I was a professional programmer, too. I think that practicing programmers get more frustrated, because the learning curve is really disrupting their productivity. I started with gvim, then eventually got comfortab

Yeah. I do not have to think about what I'm doing in vim, when it comes to normal text editing. To be quite honest, getting up to normal-editor level with vim shouldn't take more than a month to become comfortable. Learning to move, yank, p

So what? There's no rule that says you have to comment. There's no rule that I know of against submitting your own stuff. If you're writing quality articles (which this is) and submitting OC, then that's a good thing.

Because this is exactly the scenario that plays out every time North Korea "attacks" South Korea. No one ever owns it, just like with the submarine http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10129703 . It's an "accident" or it's inconclusive. Also, neither

Technologically, yeah. The community? Not a chance. And as far as the code goes, one is way better off creating a couple tables and making their own clone than re-using reddit's code.

A minor? You can't fine a minor because they don't have income. You could fine their parents. I would suggest juvenile hall, maybe 1 week. If we were to fine weev, for a crime that was otherwise punishable with jail, it should be done as a

I'm not sure why this got downvoted, perhaps you're all missing the point: It's not that I don't like open source. I contribute to it myself. The point is that when you agree to something, that is binding.

Oh man, that is some serious proliterian rage. I have to wonder: why is it that someone thinks they can retroactively demand overtime pay for work that wasn't agreed in advance? As a contractor, I really don't understand this attitude.

Obfuscation is more than enough to protect the code. You need only to make the cost of ripping it off greater than or equal to the cost of creating it. IP is so much more than the code. It's the concepts, the graphics, everything.
