Ah thanks, I got confused because you mentioned Java 9. I really hope Substrate VM or something similar gets into the JDK. Having the option of AOT-compilation or using jlink for bundling would be amazing.

If you are talking about Java's AOT feature (JEP 295: http://openjdk.java.net/jeps/295 ) then I don't think it is true AFAICS. The JVM is still needed, Java-Code can be compiled into a shared library but this

I am not sure about this. Swift for example also has `defer` statements but its behavior differs from Go's. Swift executes defer statements at the end of the block, not the end of the function. And AFAICR Swift doesn't evaluate th

Java seems to have a similar initiative called "Project Metropolis" to (re)write some stuff in Java instead of C++: http://mail.openjdk.java.net/pipermail/discuss/2017-Septembe...

I am not sure if you have seen this review from Qualcomm's Centriq by Cloudflare, but at least for others it might be interesting: https://blog.cloudflare.com/arm-takes-wing/ In the conclusion they mention: "

I would love to see an in-depth analysis why Go's GC behaves this way for this specific benchmark in the first place. Just playing around with different values for `GOGC` seems like guess-work and could just paper over the underlying r

Your article is from 2016, while I was walking about 2015. This is pretty important since the events from sylvester 2015 were an important changing point. But please let's do not discuss single articles, it is more about the general se

Interesting to read that, after what role german media/newspapers played in 2015. Especially since even journalists of well-respected german newspapers admitted the lack of critical journalism during this time.

No offense, but the blog post is seriously missing a better (or any?) explanation of what's the new JIT all about. At first I even thought my browser loaded only half the page...

Exactly. Linux keeps its ABI stable and is committed to not break userspace. Just bundling your app with all needed libraries should allow you to run your app on any distro. There are only two requirements: same machine architecture (e.g. x

You are right, that's what e.g. the verdict against Ireland/Apple was about. But this is only part of the story. The verdict in this case was that Ireland let Apple pay lower taxes compared to other local companies. Some other EU-

The EU and its countries are actively trying to tax Facebook, Google, Apple, Amazon, etc. more than today for some time now. It's just not so easy. But that doesn't have anything to do with Trump, this started well before most peo

Your chart is about assets not income/wages as you claim. Since the chart is in German too, readers can't see that. People in Germany seem to prefer rent over freehold property, this might explain Germany's low numbers compar
