Go and Dart? Sounds like you're out of touch with what most companies really use. Look at some job ads in your area to get a realistic sense of what's employable (if that's your main concern).

Great point. In the past, I've often been too willing to take offense and taken things the wrong way. Then when I get home, I realize they didn't mean it the way I initially thought they did, and it was too late to take back my

Great summary, thanks! I've looked at a few blog posts on bcrypt and they were so convoluted I left more confused than when I began.

I went to a doctor, and he gave me beta blockers, which helped a lot. Another thing that helped is reading forums like this where many people admit how nervous they are. In speech class, everyone seemed to do relatively well, so I was unde

That sounds like my Starbucks. I was sitting at a table and overheard a customer complaining that they got their coffee after someone that ordered after them. After the customer left, I heard the Starbucks manager explain to the new hire

Sounds like me as well. My 20s really sucked. Most of my friends were dating and travelling, but I had too much anxiety to do either. I lived an hour from a big city, but had too much anxiety on the freeways to go there. Most of my frie

Reading Ruby code makes me happy, reading Haskell code makes me want to pull all my hair out. Enough said.

I heard that a similar thing happened in another city, I think it was Sacramento. Maybe they should charge a quarter instead of making things free. This would make things close-to-free, but keep it from attracting lots of homeless.

Yeah, I think it often backfires. Long ago I thought I did a good job on one of my first projects, would work after-hours on it for fun, and my co-worker said I was doing a good job. But the client started to publicly shame me in the meet

Yeah, I've started learning Django this week, and one of the first confusing questions I asked myself is "why are there so many templates?". Then I realized a template in Django is like a normal view in Rails or other frameworks.

Thank you for your Web Design book. As a programmer, it gave me the confidence to explore the design world.

Good point, and very thin-skinned. On the other hand, isn't this how many developers think and act? At least trek is being honest about it.

It might help to add Google's DNS to the list of DNS servers, e.g. on my Ubuntu, I sometimes add "nameserver 8.8.8.8" to the end of my "/etc/resolv.conf" file.

I discovered underscore.js recently, I really like it as well. After learning a little functional programming, it is cool to see things like map, contains, select, etc. brought into JavaScript in an easy-to-use way.
