Easily 10x smaller than the Bay (unless you count defense contracting as tech). It's still California so all the usual things like NIMBY zoning and prop 13 ruin the built environment. That being said, a lot of LA was built before the 8

Irvine is where all the tech is in orange county and tbh you might as well just live in the south bay if you want the Irvine lifestyle.

It's a python3-tier ask to move everyone off LaTeX and I'm not sure HTML rendering is worth it. Yeah the syntax of typist looks nice but that's just not a big advantage anymore.

Sure but if the LLMs are making LaTeX easy to work with then why bother trying migrate everyone to a new language?

It's been a decade since I wrote anything in LaTeX and I echo all it's pain points. But it seems like LaTeX is the kind of thing that LLMs would nail perfectly. I feel like using it today wouldn't be very bad.

We were going to release something like this in California but environmental groups killed it. I've been having some success with "mosquito dunks" in buckets here in Los Angeles but unless the neighbors do it to we still get

One of the things that I think gets overlooked is sample bias. People in their 50s who are engineers often started coding in the 90s. And back then it was a much less common career path.

Wait you don't have homeless seniors where you live? Here in California they are everywhere. This is despite Prop 13 and all the laws on top of it that are designed to keep seniors in their forever homes. Feels like maybe handouts to r

Community input is bad. Maybe in the 50s things were different. But that was a long time ago and the pendulum has swung too far in the opposite direction. Robert Moses could not build today. Nobody can build today. Largely because we have

Maybe the EU is different but in the US there's no software engineering union. Our wages are purely what the market dictates. Think they're too high? You're free to start a company and pay less.
