It feels very much like AI is creating AI lock-in (if not AI _vendor_ lock-in) by creating so much detailed information that it's futile to consume it without AI tools. I was updating some gitlab pipelines and some simple testing scrip

I _do_ find it weird that the LCDs from crashed cars are so expensive. I wonder if newer models have better screens, so people with older cars upgrade? Or if they're a common failure point? I have a Model 3, but I can't say I foll

I think the design is great; my only gripe is it's awful on the iPad mini. But so are Apple apps. They think it makes sense for the side drawer (in portrait mode) to cover half the screen. Which is especially insane in apps with maps w

I've been a lightweight homebrew user for many, many, many years now. I just use it to download or update a thing I need, once every 3-6mo. It constantly blows my mind how insanely long it takes just to do a few simple things on the fa

They need to _commit_ to this, and execute, though. This feels very much like yet another half-hearted Apple initiative.

I park on the street for free. (The lot is also free in monetary cost, for the short windows I'd park there, but the hassle is larger than the hassle of finding street parking).

TBF a lot of the complaints are coming from businesses that are _probably_ renting. There is absolutely the chance that their business will go under due to construction disruptions before they can benefit from the increased foot traffic onc

A tiny 2BDR shack next door that is worth $3M because of the 6000sqft lot it sits on _absolutely_ goes up in value when density increases.

As long as the cost to build housing is less than the revenue from selling it, why wouldn't you? It's not like homebuilders in Austin flee for North Carolina when the margins shift slightly.

Well, in Menlo Park they're just flat surface parking lots, not even multi-story structures. The planned development is multi-story housing with parking underneath. To be fair, I am boycotting the (similar) underground garage over at S

Meanwhile, California is also trying to build housing near transit, but Menlo Park wants to preserve the character of downtown by preserving dirty, cracked, flat, surface-level parking lots like it's 1950.
