Actually, insurance companies are already _very_ aggressively steering their customers into "lower-cost" shops, leading them to believe they should accept subpar repairs in order to keep costs down and profits up. In many cases th

Please, set this clickbait car insurance ad on fire, and blackhole whatever "source" you got this from so it doesn't push junk on you again.

What's confusing is that most of our attention gets focused on "whoa, weird, driving on the wrong side of the road" and not on what it does to the on- and off-ramps (blue in the linked wikipedia image).

The implication of "I wish I could hand my iPad to..." is that the person receiving the iPad would be able to use it, not just physically hold onto it.

It made me cringe, but only because I saw it after hearing about the controversy. It made me wonder whether I'd have had the same reaction if I just saw it "fresh".

I have an electric car, and I'm starting a hugely expensive remodel that will involve migrating to a heat pump and electric tankless water heater, but even with solar, it's a laugh to say that my PG&E rates are a fixed cost!

that was neither stated nor implied as you intuited by your "13 cents" vs my comment about $15 being break-even. Curious about a source for $15 being uneconomical. It's just a SWAG on my part that it's break-even, but if

Considering I pay $50 for 10 gig internet here in the US, I suspect those poor downtrodden ISPs can afford to add a small percentage of marginal customers at $15/mo and still at least break even on all of them.

I'm not sure if it was just me, but I struggled with the visual style. In some groups there were more rows than others, but then the rows would be of different lengths, making it difficult to intuitively compare the population sizes, e

My guess was that the directional antennas were off by enough that it didn't work well in clear conditions, but the rain refracted the signal enough to work. The actual answer was better :D

My public library system allowed you to telnet in, and had a limited menu-based list of destinations you could telnet OUT to... but a simple escape char allowed you an open telnet prompt to go anywhere in the world. It was my favorite (only
