I agree with your logic, and this is a good reason to use centimeters instead of inches.

Counterpoint to #1, celsius increments are too large. I laugh every time I see a thermostat in a car or home that needs to have steps like 20, 20.5, 21, 21.5.. :)

I think my warning would be that prioritizing tasks you know you can do and do well may be satisfying, but may limit growth. I identify with the author's POV quite a bit, but sometimes I find that when I take a step back and put in les

Yeah, the article was pretty confusingly written. When they explained why it hadn't been found, the quote was "I suspect the coyote was swept away...", but then later in the article it seemed clear the 'swept away'

Yeah, I'm on a Lenovo 5k2k 40" UW and it's never occurred to me to want something wider. Though I will admit I definitely noticed the loss of total real estate vs my old 3x 27" setup.

I don't follow. Wouldn't the high cost of childcare make couples less likely to have 2 incomes, because the lower-earning spouse is working for lower marginal pay, just to pay someone ELSE to provide child care?

I have a friend whose parents were just (incorrectly) detained by ICE, and had to pay a $3000 administrative fee to be released. That _is_ the extremism. It's here.

Interesting how punitive the tax structure is on vacant buildings. On the one hand, harsh for the landlord. On the other hand, encourages lower rent to get the space occupied and reduce blight.

Ah, interesting. So it sounds like the tax roughly scales with property value (or size). And pubs are probably a "poor use of land" because the revenue per square foot is not particularly high?

I'm on NEM2.0 so I can generate more than I use at peak hours and push into the grid for higher credit value than I consume overnight to charge my car. Still, I don't see the value proposition for batteries on NEM2. If I wasn'

Honestly, I think this is a selling point for cable subscriptions. I find those boxes kind of painful to use, but still, it's a full-featured, consistent UI and (with HDMI-CEC) you can control everything with one remote.

Presumably it's difficult to figure out individual grocery spending, so they measured the household level spending. So when one (or more) people in a household begins taking the drug, the household spending goes down by that much.

Same I'm on iOS 26 and it's reasonably bad but I figured I might as well pull of the band-aid and have app compatibility. I can't see a single reason to upgrade to Tahoe. We'll see what 2026 brings.

It's notable that the annual ridership is up 47% in the FY ending June 2025 vs the FY ending June 2024, when electrification was only complete in September 2024-- in other words, it's not even a full year's worth of ridership
