My point is that both you and the person you were replying to have a kind of fundamental misconception about why data is slow and graphics are fast. The misconception is that data isn’t slow and graphics aren’t fast, at least relative to on

It’s worth noting that, as far as I know, nanite involves preprocessing the mesh to convert it into nanite’s special format. You could do the same thing with data easily. The issue is taking a large batch data you’ve never seen before and d

Graphics is not as trivial of a problem as you're making it seem. Even if you're just rendering a single "thing", that thing can have an unbounded number of vertices. And it's definitely not a trivial problem decidi

His consulting clients are either fishers or construction companies doing invasive environmental construction work. Which clients aren’t a massive conflict of interest? Is it surprising that he finds no issue with current fishing practice

No it would increase ocean oxygen levels. CO2 in the atmosphere would become O2 in the ocean and carbon in the phytoplankton. Until the plankton decay, of course.

You can’t deny it’s a massive conflict of interest. You cannot trust science done in such an environment, sorry.

I know Google’s load balancers use BGP. So a load balancer will have a single IP address, but you don’t talk directly to that IP. Google’s servers take over as traffic is being routed.

Every jj command creates a commit. So if you have two unrelated pieces of work you need to split all the commits created.

This seems like a really unnecessary amount of overhead. With build times often taking multiple minutes, being able to multi-task is essential. I often work on two things at once. That seems difficult / impossible with this.

You could implement my_pthread_once pretty easily, though. Should be around 5 lines of C?

What about simply making pthread_once take a void *opaque parameter that is passed in to the function? You could use this to manually construct a closure.

I have the opposite conclusion. Many things have existed for millions of years, the vast majority of which are not slow. Therefore, being slow is a pretty terrible survival strategy. And, in practice, you see evidence of this: faster animal

The trick is to let the pan get to the right temperature. You don’t want it super hot, but you need it hot enough for the Leidenfrost effect. You can tell the pan is hot enough by splashing water on it. The water should not boil, but rath

Usually copying someone else’s work without permission is considered (intellectual property) theft. Also, this person just copied the initial work but isn’t as committed to keeping things up to date. Much better to use the original source.

No, an advanced learning program is not called the next grade. There are two problems with putting kids in higher grades: 1. Outside of academics, the younger children are not at the same level of emotional, mental, and physical development
