Instagram Reels is Instagram's TikTok competitor. Instagram called their stories product "Stories." Also, in a lot of ways, Instagram stories were better than Snapchat stories. For one, you have a wider network on Instagram c

Ah, I see. So you're essentially arguing that content shouldn't be restricted to children because they're either ready to view the content on should be educated by their parents on why they shouldn't view the content. Th

You’re just severely underestimating kids. If it’s enforced at the client level, kids will download a more permissive client. It’s so easy to bypass. Kids are highly motivated, highly intelligent, and have a ton of time.

Parental controls are trivial to bypass. I don’t support a government database either, but suggesting digital parental controls is not a valid solution.

Sorry, my language is imprecise. I meant Tim Apple is giving Alito a steak dinner in his personal facilities. That’s clearly not a bribe and to suggest otherwise would be misleading. https://www.wsj.com/articles/propubl

This conversation is really crazy to me. I’m going to assume these people really do work in payment processing and it explains a lot. Apparently they can’t even properly recognize a potential attack vector let alone mitigate it. If this min

What PCI says is irrelevant. The argument being made is that when you enter your CC number into a website you have no idea if the receiving party is PCI compliant or not. There are ways to design a payment systems that reduces this counter

Huidu seems just like how one would use AB testing in English. You roll out a change, see if it works. If not, roll it back. Otherwise, roll it out to the rest of the users.

Here is a summary of your argument in your own words: > So in summary, yes, you can integrate with Stripe in such a way that you send them the card details... but then your business will need to be PCI compliant to the level of a PSP whi

Again, merchants don’t integrate by calling Stripe APIs directly out of convenience. It’s more convenient to use an out of the box solution. But from a technical perspective, nothing is stopping a merchant from accepting your CC details dir

People use Stripe’s forms because they’re convenient. It’s not a requirement in any way. Stripe provides APIs to build everything in their provided forms so you can build the functionality into your own site easily.

I think you’re confusing what you’re supposed to do (according to PCI) vs. what you’re technically capable of doing. Look at the Stripe’s documentation for creating a payment method [0]. The parameters it takes are card number, expiration,

I think you missed the “over the internet” part. When you do a CC transaction over the internet, you give the merchant your CC number and all the other information needed to make a transaction happen. A legitimate merchant may pass that inf

I would say the risks are approximately the same. The biggest difference is that HYSA are insured by the FDIC up to 250K. Money market funds, purchased through a brokerage, are insured by SIPC. You get 500K of coverage total, but only up to

The choice wasn't arbitrary, but the result is arbitrary. As in, the choice of 0 is not tied to the underlying physics of temperature the way 0s of other units are chosen.

That is what arbitrary means. The 0 point of Celsius is arbitrarily chosen. For instance, 0 grams means 0 mass. 0 Celsius does not mean 0 energy.

Isn’t salmon usually caught in the ocean near the river’s mouth? The closer salmon get to spawning, the worse they taste. And it’s hard to get a large ship up the river. This seems like it would be more of an issue for trout fisherman, espe

I know nothing about LLVM backends, but it’s pretty common that libraries aiming to solve 100% of users problems eventually become unwieldy and slow compared to a more optimized alternative. Web Pack vs. esbuild is an example of this.
