Great point. Also worthwhile is to consider the overall likelihood of success for projects you take on (and what it implies for future work, quality of life while working with the client, etc). I wasted a lot of time early in my career on p

I've only ever heard the term "coastal elites" from people the live near the coast and wish they were elites.

I'm having a hard time imagining how this hustle works. With the luminous ink or daub the idea is to see the markings from a distance. Here you would think you'd need to be fairly close with a geiger counter to detect the marking.

I do an exercise where I'll visualize geometries. Starting with a point, then a line, then a triangle, a square, a tetrahedron, and so on. At each stage once you really have control over it (you're able to translate/scale

I think the community needs to develop a process ahead of time for determining how to deal with these issues. A good start might be: Can the protocol be made more robust against this class of error? Is the proposed protocol change victimles

I'm with you here, they usually come out in the repl. There's always spec too, if it really turns into a problem. Seems like we could have some tooling that raises a flag if keywords with a short Levenshtein distance were detected

this looks great. is the graph editor implementation that you used in botmock custom homegrown stuff, or is that an opensource component? something like this would be useful for a workflow modeling tool I've been thinking about for one

I had a similar experience about 2 years ago. I joined a team and my first pull request had more comments than my commit had LOC. There was a comment each for two libs I pulled in asking what the licenses were. Opinionated but forceful sugg

it's interesting to see the react-native detractors in this thread vs an Ask HN thread we had about react-native a couple of weeks ago. I wonder how many people could really determine an app's usage of RN in a blind taste test. co

The paper linked on github mentions that people are limited to only run a single miner. I haven't parsed it all yet but I think they intend to use the biometrics/HUID to enforce this. Among other concerns, I'm not sure where
