Its interesting with the other thread about Java EE dying and Oracle politics. The ecosystem around Java and JVM is huge, so much cool stuff going on. Definitely a great platform.

Agreed, the main wrinkle is that buying auto parts is a simple transaction. With my HD plan the provider still bills insurance first who negotiates a rate then sends me the bill which is hugely inefficient.

I really like the idea of high deductible plans. The idea for me is that insurance shouldn't cover regular costs that most people pay every year. Insurance should just be for unusual events, like car insurance is only used if you have

I think the regular prices for cloud services are super high. a1.xlarge has 4 vcpus and 8GB memory for $500 a year? They can afford to give a lot for free.

The concern I dont understand. If all traffic is encrypted, what is the risk of Huawei equipment handling traffic? Are people worried about spying or being able to switch interrupt service?

If all computers, networking and cell phones come from China, I dont see why local 5G transmitters should be any different. If Europeans save a lot of money choosing Huawei over Qualcomm its a good choice. Its not like Qualcomm is nice to E

Its one reason I hate cafes in America, its full of people working on laptops, its a horrible atmosphere. As for campuses I'm surprised you're allowed to hang out there all day. Libraries in NYC are mostly for homeless people.

My opinion is that the first 25% is the most fun, the only reason to do the rest is if its how you make money, or get other rewards such as recognition or praise from users (assuming you like that). My side projects always die soon after fi

Depends on how your product will compete, but being first entrant isn't always good. Apple copied their PC from IBM, their tablet from Microsoft, and their ipod from others. They're successful because they do it better. Can you?

The solution to that is to have people have proper uniforms. Eg surgeons/doctors/nurses wear different color scrubs & hats or insignia for rank. It was like this in the old days.
