My opinion is that the first 25% is the most fun, the only reason to do the rest is if its how you make money, or get other rewards such as recognition or praise from users (assuming you like that). My side projects always die soon after figuring out what I want and how to do it. My job I'm doing the messy stuff I'd prefer not to do.
